About

My Approach: EMDR + IFS

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based model of psychotherapy that helps individuals heal from painful memories and experiences. Using guided eye movements or other bilateral stimulation, EMDR reduces the emotional intensity of past and present events—and the ways they impact the future—creating space for relief, healing, and growth. + Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is an approach that helps you understand and support the different parts of your internal experience. Many of us carry parts that are protective but can also create distress or hold pain from past traumas. IFS is collaborative and empowering, guiding you to develop self-awareness, self-compassion, and the ability to heal wounded parts of yourself. = IFS-Informed EMDR is a relational, blended approach that combines EMDR trauma reprocessing with the Internal Family Systems model, making it especially effective for complex, attachment-related, or deeply defended trauma. In this approach, therapy begins by identifying and building trust with protective parts of yourself that may resist healing, ensuring they are willing to engage and reducing the risk of feeling “stuck” or re-traumatized. EMDR bilateral stimulation is then used while you stay connected to your calm, compassionate core Self, allowing healing to occur from within rather than through cognitive change alone. This integration creates a relational, paced, and compassionate process that honors your internal system while supporting lasting relief and self-understanding. __________________________________________________ Education and Experience: Amanda has been in practice for 9 years.
